January is behind us, the first month of 2018 is now in the history books. My goals for January was to, change my eating habits, get more exercise, to lose 8 lbs and not let my anger control me. I am happy to say that I have stuck to my new eating habits. We are eating much cleaner and gotten rid of all junk food that could tempt us. My wife and I have stuck to our exercise goals and feel much better for it. She has gone more and been more disciplined than I but, I have not been sitting on the couch so that is a great improvement. My anger, although always there, has not been as issue here at work and believe me, there have been times that I could have lost it easily. Working in the public is a challenge but, I have risen up to that challenge so far. I still have a way to go when dealing with my son but, that too has gotten better. Now, as far as the loss, I did not lose the 8 lbs I set out to do. I actually lost 8.6 lbs!! January 2nd, I weighed 253.6 lbs and this morning, February 1st I weighed in at 245 lbs. I still have a long way to go but, I am very pleased with my progress so far. I took responsibility for my health and owned it! I had great support from my wife but, the responsibility is on me to succeed of fail, not any one else.
I watched a video today that Will Smith had put up on his twitter account today and he goes into great detail about fault and responsibility. If you are on twitter, I highly recommend you go find this video and watch it. To summarize, he states that no matter whose fault it is something is broken, if it is within your realm of responsibility to fix it, you need to step up and do so. An example he gave was it is not your fault if your partner cheats on you but, it is your responsibility to find a way to deal with that pain and find a way to live a happy life. We all must take responsibility for our own lives, our own decisions and make the necessary changes to make things better. In the challenge of becoming more healthy, it may not be your fault that your genetics make it very easy for you to gain and hold weight but, it is damn sure your responsibility to find way to over come it and become a healthier you. It may not be your fault that you that the time you can get to the gym, the place is packed but, it is your responsibility to find a way to get your exercise in to maintain your goals. You can either have excuses or you can have results, it is all up to you. “If it is to be, it is up to me.” – William H. Johnson
I talk about my wife a lot in these blogs. She is not only the love of my life, she is my inspiration to be a better man. She works very hard in every aspect of her life. From her job as a dental hygienist to being and awesome wife and every thing in between she gives her very best. Anna is a distributor, with the rank of Princess, in the cosmetic company SeneGence International, a network marketing business. She has a team under her of 150 ladies and that team has amassed over 600,000 is gross sales volume for the fiscal year. I would say she has been very successful in her “part-time” job venture. It has not been easy, it is called NETWORK NOT NETWAIT! She works her tail off to not only sell her product, but to assist her team in any way she can. She wants not only her but her entire team to succeed and takes it to heart when they don’t. Last night she became upset because she did not hit certain goals for the month of January. Not to go into too much detail, her team did not hit numbers that were set out for the month. Anna is a positive person, always has been but even she has her limits. She began stating, “Well it is not my fault for this and not my fault for that.” I was tired myself last night and snapped a bit. “Well stop worrying about it, it is over and pouting about it won’t make it better.” She did not get mad at what I said but, I should not have said it. What I should have said was. “No, it is not your fault but, it is our responsibility for make sure it does not happen again”. We need to get new blood flowing in our business, get people excited again and the results will come. We need to keep reaching out to the team, find a way to assist them to reach their goals. We may not be at fault but, if we want this business to succeed, it is damn sure our responsibility to find a way to do so.
WE are responsible for our success and our failures in life. Somewhere along the line, that thought process changed. No one seems to take responsibility for their actions anymore. It is always some one else fault, some one else is to blame for failure. YOU are responsible for YOUR actions. You may not be at fault when you fail but, YOU are responsible to find a way to succeed. You can have all the tools at your disposal to be a success but, if you don’t know how to open the tool box, whose responsibility is it to learn how to open it?? If you can open the tool box, whose responsibility is it to learn how to effectively use those tools??? It may not be your fault that you were never taught but, it is damn sure your responsibility to educate yourself and over come that obstacle. Take responsibility for your life right now! No matter whose fault it is you are not where you want to be, take the responsibility to take action to get you there. It all starts with you!!
